Self destructing USB flash drive by Ironkey

Ironkey“…This tape will self-destruct in five seconds…” - Mission Impossible TV Show

We have become dependent on USB flash drives, for these compact devices are both extremely practical and convenient. While these offer many advantages, they also hold very important personal and professional data and therefore we would not want to lose this information. Ironkey knows how important it is to keep your data safe and raised the bar on data security and protection.

The Ironkey USB Flash Drive holds your important documents, pictures, and online passwords secure by its own Cryptochip, which provides military grade AES encryption for safeguarding. If it is physically damaged or the password is incorrectly entered 10 times, the internal data will self destruct. In addition, it is filled with epoxy based compound, making it waterproof and preventing individuals from reaching its internal hardware. In the case it is lost or stolen, you can rest assured that your data will be secured.

The Ironkey’s features are just as attractive. Internet surfing is available on other computers with the Firefox browser built in, and your online passwords are stored in order to save you time. It runs different portable software and applications, so you have them with you on the go. Have you ever wanted to have your Internet bookmarks with you when not at home? These are saved for you to be available when needed and desired. Another neat feature is the ability to backup your data, so in case data is lost or the Ironkey is misplaced, your information may be renewed.

The current sizes available are 1, 2, and 4 Gigabyte thumb drives. For more information, you can check out their site above or watch the demo.

I can hear the Mission Impossible theme song now. This is so useful. It definitely fills a very important need for security with something so practical and yet so easily lost or stolen.

That is a cool flash drive. I’ve known friends that have lost flash drives with projects or other important things on them, and this would at least keep their data from being stolen.

    Hello Neece and Shyguy
@Neece: I used to love that show when I was a kid.
It is so easy to lose or forget the disk-on-key somewhere that this offers security and privacy if it lands in the wrong hands.
@Shyguy: I have personally misplaced my flash drive with important data. Ironkey also offers a back-up system to sync with your disk-on-key, so in case you lose it…all the info can be retrieved. A nice solution.
