Roll up until you're right over one of the sensor strips in the road. Reach back with your foot and drop your centerstand until it touches the road surface, then release. That puts a hunk of ferrous metal close enough to cause the change in ambient magnetic field to register. If you don't have a centerstand, you can also blip your starter. That also generates a field the sensor can detect. For a long-term solution, complain to the city's public works people and the traffic enforcement unit of the local PD.
