Calling All Star Trek Fans: The Star Trek Communicator Could Be Yours
| by Eran Abramson on March 18, 2008 in Customer Experience |
Whether you are a major Trekkie or just the occasional viewer, the Star Trek Communicator has always been a neat gadget to long for.
This communicator is a replica of the device used by the infamous Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise. It consists of over 20 sound effects and actual lines which were used in the classic Television Series from the 1960’s and on. In addition, a “hailing” function is included, which once selected, the Starship calls you back up in order to check if you need “beaming up.”
This cool little toy costs $29.99 and could be yours at Think Geek.
Although it is not an actual two way communication device, it is a wonderful collector’s item. Moreover, if a toy is not something you necessarily are looking for, it could be used as a nostalgic item to let your kids in on old TV shows that you used to watch.
I personally can’t wait to see a modified version of this toy actually combined with a working cellphone. Then, you can really play a Trekkie by making daily calls and communication using your own Star Trek “Real Time” Communicator.
If you want to start building an entire Star Trek package, you could also get your hands on the actual Star Trek phaser.
