There is such a craze about solar power these days. Will there be solar powered cellphones, portable video games, or even our own cars? Solar power is a great alternative, and General Motors have went solar shingle crazy at their Zaragoza factory in Spain. These panels, or solar shingles if you will, are set to provide 10 Megawatts of energy, enough to power 4600 households.

As can be seen in the picture, it looks like a field of solar shingles; simply an amazing image. 85,000 solar panels will cover an area of 2 million square feet. Can you imagine the size of such a rooftop? Doesn’t it kind of remind you of Fields of Dreams…but for the tech age?

This solar installation should be completed by September of this year, and there is a possibility that Saint Petersburg, Russia may be next.

I saw this the other day as well. This is such a great idea by GM. I’m glad to see that they are actually taking the initiative to make a difference in such a large way.
