Mission Computer Mod Raises The Bar On CPU Mods

Some folks would like their kids to keep their geeky computers outside of the living room, but with this computer mod, you could bring your living room inside your computer.

We are not talking about some SIMS design where you could design your living room in the game, but an actual case mod which was designed as if your cosy living room resided inside your actual computer case.

The images can best represent what the modder has done with the computer, and how a living room was redesigned using the electronics of the actual PC along with some miniature props. It is similar in concept as the Lego Case mod, which created an actual Lego town inside a PC (and surrounding it). Moreover, the Office Design Mod is also another way to make an actual computer mod be part of the atmosphere and surrounding…kind of blending it in.

Overall, this is a really beautiful PC mod that makes it a lot easier to stay in front of your computer on those cold rainy days. Instead of bundling up with a book and a blanket, you could surf the web and chat with your friends.

Living Room Computer Case Mod Design

Computer PC mods have never failed to catch my eye, and this cool PC mod does just the same with its resemblance to a vintage microphone made into a giant. The uber cool mod, created by a certain slipperyskip, is an exact copy of the Unidyne microphone (the likes of which were used by Elvis Presley in his concerts).

The PC case is made up of wood, with a coating or two of aluminum metallic paint, which adds to the charm of the mod. Even a wooden Unidyne logo has been added at the correct spot to give the mod an authentic feel. The grids are in perfect places, and the mic stand with the circular rings is quite authentic. But, what according to me really makes this mod different than all the others out there in the market is the dedication devoted by the creator of this mod. If you look closely at the images below, you will notice how the modder smartly uses thick VGA cables instead of the slim ones available in the market. No, the modder is not the “old is gold” type, I guess. The use of thick VGA cable blends in with the giant microphone giving this mod an altogether feel of originality, what say?The only thing that I think is missing is the CD Rom drive (I cannot spot it anywhere in the picture).

Cool PC Mod Looks Like a Microphone

Of all the computer case mods I have come across, the Skull PC case by Argonart must be one of the best till date and looks absolutely amazing, as the case is shaped like a skull with the mouth cavity doubling up as the DVD slot. The hollowed eyes gleam in a sort of unearthly manner by going all red, and if you are the kind of person who likes your gaming PC to be totally kick ass, then the Skull PC is just for you.

Argonart is a Midlands based company and you could get the whole PC customized according to your gaming needs. With a PC that looks as cool as this, you would obviously choose a co0nfiguration that is equally kick ass and cool.

The skull case would cost about £2000 and it is made of high grade aluminum alloy. Being handmade, you can expect each of the skull cases to be unique in their own way, and that actually adds to the whole charm of having a customized gaming PC. It would be just amazing to play one of those zombie games on this Skull PC as that would set the right mood and also the right atmosphere for something that is as scary as that.

Skull Gaming PC Mod is Out of this World

Marlies Romberg, a young designer, who is always up in arms against the use of plastic and aluminum, has made a computer out of wood, complete with the monitor, mouse, computer table and an engraved wood computer keyboard. The vintage looking beauty will surely help in salvaging the humongous land mass that has been under tons of garbage generated by the use of plastic and other non degradable substances. The Dear Diary 1.0 (that’s what the designer calls her creation) is actually a computer table with built in monitor, laser cut-to-precision keyboard and a CPU that’s neatly tucked away underneath the table, all made up of wood and brass.

From the looks of it, the masterpiece seems to be a Mac (the command key in keyboard is on left of space bar key), but again, a Mac doesn’t sport a two buttoned mouse, only Windows mouse do so. But, anyways, both Mac and Windows can be formatted and Linux can be run from both of them, so the problem of the operating system is solved. As in for the security concerns, along with an anti-virus you probably would be needing an anti-termite to save your PCs body from being eaten up by those pests. All in all, this stuff is surely gonna get some eco-friendly geeks knocking the designer’s doors, and with eco-friendly numbers undergoing a steady rise, some big moolah would surely follow.

It is just as artistic as the hand carved Wood Computer Case Mod, but in a completely different style.

Wooden Computer Art Table for the Eco-Friendly

If you are jaded of the unexciting looks that your PC’s CPU provides, then this vintage Volkswagen Beetle CPU mod is surely a welcoming entry to your desktop table. I bet there is no other way to commemorate the vintage beauty, except, by rebuilding it as a mod.

The whole CPU compartment is neatly made to fit inside the miniature car body, which I guess is made up of hard transparent vinyl, wherein the green cover representing the Beetle is later put on. The craftsman has tried to build the mod very close to realm and with the results out, he definitely seems to be quite successful. What, according to me, really sets this mod apart from other mods that I have come across, is the front bumper, which comes out to reveal the CD-ROM.

The back bumper opens to unveil the USB port, audio-video pins and other ports of use for the computer. The mod is quite complete even with the Volkswagen logo, and some accessory stickers. If a suggestion was to be given, then I would prefer tinted glass, since it will hide the PC components and make the mod look chick.

The user claims that the cloth used for top surface is dust and stain resistant and the dimensions of this thingie are about 9.25″ x 7.75″.  The stuff is up for grabs for a price of $10.95, which I think is quite reasonable for this piece of ingenuity. A Mousepad That Eats Your Mouse!

Surrealism and being a geek don’t really go hand in hand but Pius Giger thinks otherwise as shown in this meticulously designed Edelweiss PC case mod which is something that shocks your mind and forces you to not believe that it is after all just a PC. On one hand it superimposes ideas of science fiction and futuristic gadgets and on the other hand it seems to explore the ideas of a computer that has streaks of exhibitionism within it.

The case mod has been designed tasteful and bares all the internal parts in an artistic manner. It is more like the voyeuristic geek’s dream coming true, as one could easily see what lies behind the veneer of a normal PC case. The Edelweiss not only reveals the innards of a computer but it also harks back at the days of modernism where industrial machines were given a magical to7uch by French and other European artists. Likewise, Pius has paid his tribute to the modern day cultural symbol that computers have become with his Edelweiss PC Case Mod.

The glowing red lights, the visible innards, the meticulously designed lines and cuts lead to the overall captivating effect of the case mod. One of the case mods that I find totally kick ass is the Bumblebee Case Mod that almost looks like the result of an art student’s dedicated piece of work. Though a little outdated, the Steampunk Desktop Mod is another such creative piece of work that pays tribute to a certain period of time.

Edelweiss Case Mod for Surrealistic Geeks

Chris Kramer decided to do something different during summer holidays and what he ended up was building an Egyptian themed computer mod. He used some really specialized jewelry metal working, lapidary skills which involve gemstone cutting and polishing, stone working, several dozen pounds of limestone tiles and a stuffed dog in order to create an authentic Egyptian themed case mod that transports us back to the days of pharaohs and hieroglyphics.

The idea was not to create something highly technical but something that is artistic and drool worthy, and hence the only geek components that went into the project were some components and a computer system board. He recreated partially the Tutankhamen chariot scene and in order to get some authentic hieroglyphic text, he used several passages from E. A. Wallis Budge’s “The Egyptian book of the Dead”.

With some amazing LED lights, jewelry, Egyptian art and painting, the case looks almost like Queen Cleopatra’s armoire and the computer that sits within it is almost a juxtaposition of cultures. The stuffed dog sits regally over the case as if it is guarding a new kind tomb.

He used an i945GTm-VHL Core Solo/Duo 479 ATX Motherboard, a low-power Mobile Intel Core Solo or Core Duo socket 479 CPU, two 1GB DDR2 SO-DIMM memory modules, and runs on Windows XP Media Center Edition. His case mod would make your gaming computer fit enough for a pharaoh to play if he were to be brought back to life from the ancient tombs of Egypt, in the burning deserts of a mysterious and magical land.
