On/Off Switch On The Head Is A Cool Accessory But Not Functional

Well, who would have thought of a literal manifestation of the ‘iron fist’, until the design firm Martus & Silvio showed us how, through this Fist Sledgehammer sculpture. As most of you already are, we were bowled over by this simple, yet ingenious translation of the popular phrase.

The sledgehammer design has two fists, symmetrically located on both ends of the hammer, and the ensuing action would certainly give us an emotional high. Literally, pounding your iron fist on a hard surface, without breaking your knuckles or badly damaging your fingers! Now, that sounds like a confidence booster idea.

The design is part of the ‘Early Tools’ portfolio of Martus & Silvio, and we have reason to believe there are more such eclectic, mind-boggling designs, such as the Hand Wrench. Now, all we need to do is approach them and dig up their ‘how to’ manual. Hush, we are trying our best to gain an entry into the ‘best designers’ contest and ingenuity is at short supply, so we are settling for ‘inspiration’.  The Fist Sledgehammer is certainly one of the most intelligent designs we have come across recently.

Fist Sledgehammer: Literal Manifestation Of ‘Iron Fist’

When Garnet Hertz saw an ‘OutRun’ arcade games cabinet sitting motionless, he decided it was high time it got a life, and bingo…the cabinet transformed into a mini-car. Well, he certainly didn’t have to work hard on the design, for the chassis was already in place. All that Garnet needed to do was fit three wheels and the cabinet was ‘up and running’. Of course, the motors and other equipment had to be added to pump life into OutRun.

The designer, who studies at the Pasadena Art Center College of Design, also incorporated some cool features into his car design. The screen renders real life data with the help of GPS sensors, sourced from an iPhone and powered by custom software. The final ‘map’ will tell you what’s happening around, just like in an arcade game. We find that pretty interesting. The OutRun tricycle also has the distinction of becoming a third generation Ferrari Testarossa, since the cabinet was by itself inspired from the car design. Now, that’s what we call a ‘cycle of life’.  A note of caution, though, from the designer! Do not take your car out on the roads, for it is custom built only for a controlled environment and not for unpredictable scenarios. Although it sounds like a dampener, we will settle for something rather than nothing!

OutRun Arcade Car Mod: Cabinet On Wheels

Music gadgets are indispensable, so either there is a dedicated device to deliver your daily dose of lifeblood or it hides in your all-in-one cell phone.  The tech-giants and budding designers are probably suffering a burnout with respect to features, so they have turned to their old and long-chased domain, portability. Mac Funamizu jumped through hoops and unveiled the Futuristic Mobile Music Concept that lets one wear his music (gadget).

What is unconventional here is that I see jewelry in future probably wouldn’t boast of rubies and Swarovski crystals, it’s the galloping technology that would take the crown. The transparent screen and earphones here are not just peripherals; they speak of technology which is probably in mills of researchers but are yet to see the daylight.

The lucent screen is so flexible that it can be wrapped around your wrist like a bracelet. Moreso, you can customize this music bracelet to compliment your temperaments. You can let it be in the original transparent state or pull up some pepped-up color or an image of your favorite Popstar donning your wrist.

The earphones are confident of delivering such high-quality output that couldn’t refrain themselves from using the word “Concert Hall” for the user’s ears. They also feature a built-in microphone which lets the user search through his music gallery through the technology of voice recognition.

Also a built-in-sensor is accommodated inside the earphones that can detect heartbeat and use that information to sync the user’s music. With its GPS capabilities, you can bookmark favorite songs around spots and use it for future.

It is one hell of a concept, but its pulls up the same question for like any other ahead-of-its-time conceptual gadget : Inception?

Future Mobile Music Jewelry Concept Allows You To Wear Your Music

Relationships require some spark to keep the love going. so why not have it going from the very get-go with this 8 bit wedding invitation that is not only unique, but it is also very cute for those who share the same interest.

The cover of the card features the groom proclaiming his love to the bride in Binary Code, which is very geeky but as i said earlier very unique too.

Set outside on luscious green grass , which has that old time classic look of being blocky owing to the 8 bit texture, it brings back memories of games like Dangerous Dave and its likes.

When you open the card you will come across the one line that Arcade gamers have seen a lot and probably have it burn into their eyes.

Then the main contents hit you. The Bride Versus Groom theme is a humorous way to put the small arguments that couples have but it is cute nonetheless.

The body of the card has all the details of the invitation and the font throughout is the same as the one we used to get in arcade games.

All in all the theme of this retro-gaming-themed invite is very touching indeed. I just wonder if it makes those adorable Beep-Beep-Boop sounds too.

Gamer Love : 8 bit Wedding Invitation

Imagine a competition where every year several “architects” and “engineers” meet in a city (2008 it was in New York) to overcome the mutual construction of bold and creative structures made from cans of soft drinks and canned food. That’s exactly what is Canstruction, and this time they even introduced Pacman the great.

The Canstruction is an international competition for the charitable purposes and surprises visitors with a giant panda bear, a sailboat, buildings and a car. The public is also invited to donate food at the entrance.

However, in the latest edition from Sonson, the highlight was the Pacman Game. Yes that’s Pacman  - the computer game created by Tohru Iwatani for the Namco company and became one of the most popular games of all times, with versions for different consoles and several sequels, including today.

What is striking about these Pacman are the details and the situations they were placed, like eating a ghost. Finally, something we can really call creativity.
It is very important to remember that all food collect is donated to charities, especially now, a time of crisis in which avoid waste is a necessity.

Can You Make Pacman Can Art?

Traditional seal had almost got erased from consciousness until this trendy Secure Mint Seal from Mintpass gave a subtle reminder that good old seal still exists in few nations (see the for detailed note on seals) and may get a better digitized makeover or could become extinct totally.

The phrase ‘seal the deal’  is in vogue even today and every day millions of contracts and deals are ‘sealed’ or legalized  but the good old seal which used to be made of wood, ivory etc  has been long replaced by e-certification or notary stamps and signatures in most of the countries.  It seems in the countries like Japan, Korea and Taiwan where traditional seal are still in vogue and mandatory there is a problem of counterfeit seals.

There are two designs of Mint Seal – one design improvises the traditional seal and other is the evolved digitized version.  The improved design of Mint Seal ensures seal stays secure, safe because it has a combination dial lock to lock/unlock and seal comes out like a lipstick only when the combination code is correct.

There is also a digitized version of Mint Seal with flash memory and finger print identification opens the USB lock to read the contents. This design may be useful during the transition phase when Korean government changes the policy on seals. Korea is one of the last countries where the traditional seal still is used extensively but after five years seals will not exist. But who knows seals may get another lease of life and may make a huge comeback all over the world (even without legal value) in a different form like the Promise Keepers Seal, for these seals have existed ever since birth of human civilization.
