There could never be too many NES mods, and here we present another addition to the many Nintendo mods created but in a rather weird combo: NES Console and a Fighting Stick.

Now of course, this NES mod is not an actual functional NES and a fighting stick together, but rather just a fighting stick that was built inside the console. If you really think about it, there is no way that the NES would withstand the controller jerking and moving while playing the game.

Still, this is a really cool retro mod that would make old NES fans extremely excited to have such a cool looking fighting stick to play in today’s actual consoles such as the Xbox 360. Even the buttons are completely in check with the old school color scheme.

NES Console Fighting Stick Mod is a Bit Retro

Ever been sitting at home, completely engrossed in a game, just about to beat the boss of a level but then stuff needs doing so you have to get up and get going? Well, why should your gaming not do the same? I suppose this is what Hailraiser thought when he made the portable Gamecube mod.

This realization of one gamers dream was made out of an assortment of products. The body, for example, was made from Frankenmoded Datamax Kid’s Delight game and though the creator did use Bondo, a crafting putty, to alter the looks he managed to do so well and gave the device a rather clean and well finished look.

The other bits and pieces that went into this creation would be a Zenith PS 1 LCD screen, 15v Lithium polymer batteries that give this device a 3 hour game time, an assortment of controllers which include Gamecube, Mini Gamecube, Wii Classic 3rd Party, Dreamcast Quantam Fighterpad.

Hailraiser had to overcome certain hurdles ,like the disk drive placement. Creating a loading tray would require tools that might have been out of reach for him, so he did the next best thing. Have an exposed disk drive! The disc is just set on the drive externally and you are good to go!

The device even has a memory card slot, so game on your conventional TV Gamecube, take out memory card when you are on the go and use it with the Portable Gamecube! Seamless gaming!

Portable Gamecube Mod

The worlds largest Lego Community, MOCpages, held an event recently by the name MOCOlympics in which participants were to submit one model made out of Lego bricks, subject being their own. This is what Dave Sterling’s hands crafted out for that event: an old school Nintendo Entertainment System replica along with Tetris. And crafted it well, might I add.

The model came complete with two game controllers, one Tetris game cartridge and Dave was kind enough to hook the replica up to a Lego TV too.

The level of detail on his replica propelled Dave Sterling to the Semi-finals. The replica is almost precisely like the original, it even has all connection points and the controller hook AND the cartridge tray as the original. To load a cartridge into the replica, Dave installed a spring loaded push button which releases the clasp for a proper loading tray. So just push the button which pops the tray, push in the cartridge and push the loading tray down till it locks!

The whole replica looks absolutely gorgeous and brings back fond memories of seeing grainy pixels jump about on the screen. If only we could power this replica and play some Tertis like back in the days.

Lego NES Tetris: Kicking It Old School

What fun it is to make your own musical instrument and more so, when it is a Guitar that can be strummed more effectively with simple DIY techniques and is made out of the retro NES Console.

Only a gifted man like T-Bisqit could actually construe the NES Mod technology and adapt it to a guitar. The best part of it is that his guitar actually works, like the Lego Guitar, and can be employed to produce beautiful music. By turning the NES he had had since age ten into a wondrous string instrument, the man has shown the world that with brilliant innovation, you can really move the metaphorical mountain!

It’s not easy to put your Nintendo Entertainment System under the knife. But at times, if you have the courage to execute your ideas, it can really produce astounding results. Who could have imagined that an NES you owned as a kid could transform itself into a guitar? Of course, it’s no child’s play, the process. But the pride of owning a self made guitar is truly worth its weight in guitar strings, right?

Now whether this guitar can also function as an active NES, one can only wait and watch…

NES Guitar Mod

This is one of the most awesome Portable NES Mods I have ever seen, for it is a portable NES that is built within a Nintendo Entertainment System game cartridge with a mini screen and hours of portable fun.

Created by modding guru Ben Heck, this is a portable NES like we have never seen. It provides a functional NES console that doesn’t only grant the actual gaming utility but provides some extra retro fun by being built inside NES Cartridge of the Super Mario and Duck Hunt combo game.

As mentioned, this NES Mod combines the following in a super mod:  NES MP3 Player, FM Radio, 2.8 inch LCD screen, rechargeable Lithium Ion battery, audio recorder, picture viewer, 4GB internal memory and also an expansion slot for more fun. In addition, there is a TV Out, so you could plug the NES cartridge mod into your TV whenever you wish.

The entire Nintendo mod is really something spectacular, for it is a complete system that looks extremely cool. Besides the images provided, you can check the cool video of it in action to get a little more hyped about such a product.

Portable NES Cartridge Console Mod: NES Gamer Heaven Was Found

The game has 54 blocks that are made of wood, and painted with the girders from Donkey Kong, and if you like playing Jenga, then you can play it the traditional way. However, the twist comes in when you decide to play the second version of the game where you use the Mario mover in order to save poor Pauline from the clutches of the evil Donkey Kong! For the second version of the game, there is even a Donkey Kong spinner included, that will determine the number of steps Mario can take.

The whole package includes the blocks, the Mario piece, Pauline, Donkey Kong and the spinner. Everything together retails at $24.99, which I think is really cheap for the hours of entertainment the game will provide. The only problem with the game is that it is only available in the US. So if you are in the US, order your Donkey Kong Jenga game right now and never be bored ever again.

Of course, there is a cool Transformers Jenga Game available as well, or cool Donkey Kong Wall Graphics for the original game fans.

Donkey Kong Jenga Game is an Awesome Idea

Rubik’s cube is one of the most popular and sometimes hated puzzles in the world, and while the whole world believes Rubik’s cube to be the ultimate way to spend one’s time, there are people who just get annoyed with the cube as it makes them think hard, trying to solve the puzzle.

Perhaps, it would not be too bad if the cube had nice patterns to solve. ExMachina has uploaded a picture about a Nintendo Rubik Cube which has the patterns of 6 video games. With about 6 vibrant colors symbolizing 6 popular Nintendo games, you would never grow tired of solving the Rubik’s cube and its eternal puzzle.

It comes with Green which stands for Triforce (Legend of Zelda), Blue side with the Starfox Logo, White with Kirby’s face, Yellow with Pokeball from Pokemon, Orange with Metroid’s Samus’s logo and last but not the least, a Red side which comes with the pattern of Mario hat’s logo. The artist calls her own artwork “nerdy craftage” but it is indeed cool and interesting! She used some vectors she designed for cubic faces and put on some shiny coats in order to make them look awesome.

I guess if people can think of such innovative puzzles, even the most die-hard hater of puzzles would start liking them. You could check out the previous Super Mario Brothers Rubik’s Cube along with other Rubik’s cubes like the Magnetic Rubik’s Cube. If you do not like to solve Rubik’s cube and it annoys you a lot, just get hold of the Rubik’s Cube Cake and swallow it down.

Nintendo Rubik’s Cube Is Vibrant and Colorful

If you were to dig into the history of gaming, you would most probably run into the NES or the Nintendo Entertainment System in the first place, as the 8-bit video game console which was released by Nintendo became a cultural phenomenon and was released under different names in different regions.

In the West, it was called the NES, while in the far eastern countries like Vietnam, China, Singapore and Philippines, it was called the Family Computer or Famicom, and in India, it was called by the name of Tata Famicom. With such a rich history, you can only naturally expect people to dedicate much of their artistic skills and creative juices to design models that glorify the NES.

Nintendo Monkey has uploaded the pics of a cute and really quaint “3D NES”, similar to the mini Lego NES. There is virtually no information about it and the artist has not written anything under the description, leaving the viewer or observer to deduce their own conclusions. The 3D NES seems to have been made from black, white, gray and pink buttons which have artistically been arranged to resemble the Famicom or NES.

While there isn’t more to it in the picture, it gives a glimpse into the artist’s mind and his/her love for the world’s first and most successful console ever. Meanwhile, people all across the globe have begun to find a revived interest in the NES and its history. Mysterious 3D NES Game Console Model

I really don’t know any Nintendo and Wii fan out there that isn’t looking forward to the new Super Mario Brothers for the Wii, and in case you are in the dark and want some light shed…the best way is this new trailer below.

Just like the Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the Wii, this is also a video just as exciting and amazing. The trailer below shows some awesome gameplay from this upcoming game along with Luigi’s appearance and teamwork.

It seems like the wait may actually be worth it, for the Super Mario Bros Wii video alone makes it look like a really detailed and worthy game.

New Super Mario Bros Wii Trailer

A passion for gaming can be translated in to a lot of things: for the people who can afford to do so, the gaming obsession is directed into endless hours of playing their favorite games while ignoring the other pleasures of life. The true fanatic, though, does the unbelievable by incorporating everything about the virtual world of games into their own lives.

Nimble fingers lend for surgical precision and Ryo007’s rendition of an SNES set is so lifelike it shows off his skills at paper craft. The pictures are slightly blurry but you can make out how realistic the whole Nintendo set looks. If this wasn’t sitting on a human hand I would be convinced he was trying to fool us and that it was the real thing! The detailing on this piece of work is great and I’m convinced that if I opened it up, I would find paper machinery inside it. Maybe you can even play paper Super Mario on this version, if you can press the tiny buttons.

The whole Super Nintendo Mod was made completely out of paper (except for the black wires) and if you think you have fingers deft enough to make one for yourself then you can download the templates here. The console complete with a gaming cartridge and two different game pads are small enough to have been made by the famed shoemaker for his elf friends. I wouldn’t try playing on this but it sure would look great sitting in a paper version of Miyamoto’s office.
