Build a Giant Multi LCD Screen Display

by Tal Siach on May 5, 2008 in Tech Products NewsComments (1)

lcd_screen_3

Do you work with only one screen? Would you like to add another, or two, or 29 to it?

9XMedia provides different sized LCD screens (from 19 to 40 inches) which you may customize and continue to clip together. This is a pick and build creation where you select the screen of your choice, and continually clip another screen to it. Little by little, you are able to build a massive LCD screen for your computer needs, cinematic features, or perhaps just to spend a large amount of money.

Although the package pictured below may be out of my budget, I can easily see how fun it would be to surf the net, watch YouTube videos, view my favorite TV shows, or enjoy the latest movie on it?

greenpix_led_screen_1

The largest LED screen in the world was installed in Xicui entertainment complex in Beijing, close to where the 2008 Olympics are to take place.

This display is comprised of “2,292 color (RGB) LED’s light points comparable to a 24,000 sq. ft. (2.200 m2) monitor screen for dynamic content display”.

Created by the GreenPix project, this display uses the sun’s energy only. It collects power during the day to be used during the nightly showing, which are of different artists’ performances and videos.

Nissan Introduces a 360-degree Rotating Car Concept

by Eran Abramson on May 1, 2008 in Industry NewsAdd a Comment

The Pivo2 concept by Nissan hopes to provide a new sense of freedom in movement.

The video below presents the ability of the vehicle’s body to rotate a full 360 degrees. Moreover, the actual wheels also rotate, so you can easily move forwards, backwards or provide easier lateral movements.

There are different ideas that could improve and simplify parallel parking, such as the Segway RMP or Parallel parking robot, but as you can see in the video, this could take the cake…for now.

Geeks Rock Out Hotel California on Guitar Keyboards

by Eran Abramson on May 1, 2008 in Fun StuffAdd a Comment

I am not sure if this is real or keyboard syncing, but I was entertained.

Some students at Georgia Tech have decided to use computer keyboards in place of guitars. The keys each represent different notes, and these guys are rocking out to Hotel California of the Eagles.

It is somewhat similar to playing the piano on a keyboard, but these guys are playing both the lead and rhythm guitars using merely keyboards, and the solo work is not bad at all either.

I am wondering, if they are so good at playing their keyboards, wouldn’t it be easier to actually learn how to play a real guitar? To create the software, learn the keys, rehearse the notes and music, and in the end perform it up to par seems like a job which is a lot more difficult.

Heck, this may be a fake.

What do you think? Are the keyboards actually in tune as guitars, or are they simply playing air guitar to background music with a keyboard in their hands?

Anyways, the video below has some rocking keyboard guitar in the beginning, then goes off to some miscellaneous stuff. At least watch the beginning so you could tell me if you think it is real.

New Pet Home is Technologically Luxurious and Pampering

by Eran Abramson on April 30, 2008 in Tech Products NewsAdd a Comment

luxury_pet_houseHow much do you love your cat or dog? Do they deserve more pampering? Would you like your pet to have a lifestyle of the rich and famous?

Some of us own a dog or a cat that we simply cannot get enough of. As we arrive home at night, they are the first thing tended to. As we leave them, we sometimes feel a little sting in our heart and cannot wait to see them again. In fact, my friend loves his dog so much, he brings her to work with him twice a week. He just cannot get enough of his pet.

As a boyfriend or a girlfriend or husband and wife have the partner in mind most times of the day, so are these pet owners; they always look for different ways to grant their pet a nicer, better, and happier life.

There are many different pet gadgets we could get, such as:

Now you can get them a new home.

The Luxury Pet House may look like an over-sized toaster, but it is actually a personal pad for your pet. It can be controlled through your PC for temperature, humidity, infrared, carbon heat, air circulation and some medical treatment (solenoid valve). Furthermore, you may also set different levels of deodorizing, so the pet will always have a scented and fresh place to sleep in.

This new luxurious home for the pet is not for sale yet, but may be seen at the Koreannovation gadget show in Korea on the 14th and 15th of May.

Lenovo ThinkPad X300 Parody of the Macbook Air

by Eran Abramson on April 30, 2008 in Fun StuffComments (1)

The MacBook Air looks great, and its size is very attractive and appealing, but is it enough? Lenovo doesn’t think so.

This parody of the MacBook Air is short but to the point. Simple Spoiler: It presents the Apple notebook with its major weaknesses, which is simply that it has nothing in it. It goes on to present the new Lenovo ThinkPad X300 claiming that “We don’t add stuff on. We build it in.”

After you watch, let us know if the commercial has done its job.

Robots which Shape Shift and Reassemble Alone

by Eran Abramson on April 30, 2008 in Industry NewsAdd a Comment

Remember the movie Terminator 2? In it, the T-1000 Terminator (played by Robert Patrick) was able to shape shift quickly and easily. There was a part towards the end, where he was frozen by liquid Nitrogen, shattered, and slowly “reassembled” itself to its normal chosen form. The video below reminded me of that scene.

It presents a single robot (made out of three parts) that functions as a whole piece. Once it is knocked apart, it slowly reassembles itself without the aid of anyone. It may not be as quick as the T-1000, but it is still amazing to watch.

Based on its sensors and magnets, this robot can put itself back together in the correct way. It doesn’t just attach any of its magnets to its other pieces, but comes back together in the form it is meant to.

We have previously came across a smaller version of shape shifting robots called swarms. These were also connecting themselves back to each other, but it just didn’t feel as real as these new ones. I think that the size allows us to realize the actual progress that has been achieved.

In what ways do you see this technology used in the future?

LED Electronic Jump Rope with Counter

by Eran Abramson on April 29, 2008 in Customer ExperienceComments (3)

jump_rope_led_1

Looking for a simple, yet technologically efficient exercise? This jump rope concept may be that great tool.

The Jumplay by Jacky Wu is an innovative exercise jump rope that counts different measures as you are jumping.

jump_rope_led_2

The handles consist of the different ways which keep track of the amount of time you have been jumping, a skipping counter, and calories burnt during the exercise period. Instead of having a huge treadmill in your home, or installing a counter on a bicycle or additional machine, this concept would include it in an extremely mobile counter.

jump_rope_led_3

If you wish to exercise at home, you would be able to keep track of your work and further improvements. In addition, since it is merely a jump rope, it can be taken anywhere, and still have the technological innovation that many would desire.

Furthermore, the actual rope has LED, so while you are within the skipping and jumping regime, you can clearly see the amount of skips you have already climbed up to.

Multi Colored Chameldeon Lamps Set Different Moods

by Eran Abramson on April 29, 2008 in AccessoriesAdd a Comment

chameledeon_colored_lamp

Different lights for different moments.

As we come back from work, wake up in the morning, or watch a movie, the lighting in our home can really determine the mood. In some instances, romance is needed, and a softer color may be perfect. At other times, we would like to watch a movie, and a darker light may be a correct choice for the specific movie, or another.

Chameledeon
offers multi-colored lamps in three different heights (28, 40 and 55 inches) that may be changed with a remote switch. All in all, they can cycle through 16 different colors, to match your immediate mood, sooth, and set you up as you require.
