Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Tube

All those cellphone geeks that were not satisfied by the Nokia N96 Smart phone, here is a new offering for you. The much talked about iPhone competitor by Nokia, named the Nokia tube (The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic), has just got a release date and will launch on October 2nd of this year. While people are looking to unlock the iPhone 3G, this Nokia cellphone could provide fierce competition.

Nokia has chosen London as the first place to launch the Nokia Tube phone. The device is a touchscreen phone running Nokia’s Symbian S60 operating system and hopefully will include the Haptic display many are waiting for. The date of launch for this specific touchscreen cellphone by Nokia coincides with its launch date for the “Comes With Music” service. I guess we can assume Nokia is cooking something behind the scenes.

From what we have heard, this cell phone is going to be Quadband phone and have HSDPA connectivity. It will be include a 3.2″ Color Touchscreen display having 16M colors and a resolution of 640px X 360px. The Nokia Tube will also have Wi-Fi for added connectivity and a 3.2 MP digital camera with autofocus for taking great pictures. Moreover, the Nokia cellphone will come bundled with 16 GB and 8 GB microSD memory cards.

The list of main features for the Nokia Tube Sports are:

  • Quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900), UMTS 2100, GSM/Edge, HSDPA connectivity
  • Symbian S60 Taco 5 OS
  • 3.2″ 640×360px, 16M color touchscreen display
  • Built-in A-GPS and Wi-Fi
  • 150MB of User memory
  • 3.2MP autofocus camera with dual LED flash and 30 FPS VGA recording
  • microSD HC memory card slot (up to 16GB, 8GB memory card in a box)
  • Dimensions: 111×52×15.5mm

A price has not been determined yet, but we definitely hope it is lower than the iPhone.
