After the recent announcement of Nintendo DSi coming on the first day of next month, it seems like the News has pissed Sony off. Sony’s director of hardware marketing John Koller has said that the DSi might not be enough to help Nintendo widen its user base beyond a youth audience. He also added “Nintendo has kind of a history of these [moderate] kinds of updates, and even with DS Lite, there was a lot of discussion, ‘Is that enough?’ And they seemed to do pretty well there.”
The new DSi will feature a camera, an internet browser and music capabilities. The Nintendo DS has dominated the hand held market globally and this seems a bit of problem for the Sony PSP. We all know that Sony’s PSP is a much better and a future proof Handheld gaming device but Sony has failed to give Nintendo a blow in terms of Sales. John Koller also said, “Will DSi do well with [the DS's] demographic? It probably will. Will it be a product that expands their user base [beyond] under 12? I’m not sure.”
Now, it is just a matter of time that we will know how the Gamers will take Nintendo DSi after it is launched and how the Sony Community will respond.

Sony has been falling back on the “DS is just for little kids anyway” excuse to justify PSP’s underperformance since 2004, it’s really old now.
Common sense shows that the DS couldn’t have had the success it’s had if the system only appealed to kids 12 and under, and I’ve seen more little kids tagging along with their moms at the supermarket or mall with PSPs than DSs, which I’ve seen adults with at DMV and doctor’s office waiting rooms.
